A high-level delegation from the Afghan energy company Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), led by CEO Abdul Bari Omar, visited Turkmenistan to negotiate bilateral energy cooperation. During the visit, they discussed electricity supplies from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan, including the terms and volumes of supplies for 2025.
As reported by DABS on Wednesday, the Afghan delegation held meetings with Turkmen officials, including representatives of Türkmenenergo and the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) project. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the current cooperation results and emphasized the importance of further strengthening energy ties.
The CEO of DABS thanked Turkmenistan for its support in developing Afghanistan's energy sector and noted that stable electricity supplies are crucial for the country's socio-economic growth.
The talks also covered prospects for modernizing Afghanistan's energy infrastructure, attracting investments to the sector, and expanding cooperation within regional energy projects.
Last year, Afghanistan imported electricity from Turkmenistan worth 64 million USD.
