President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with leaders of the Malaysian company Petronas Carigali on Thursday in Malaysia during his official visit. They discussed key areas of bilateral cooperation, current achievements, and future development prospects, as well as opportunities to enhance their partnership amid changing global economic conditions, as reported by Turkmenistan's official media.
The meeting focused on the oil and gas sector, one of the most rapidly developing industries in Turkmenistan. They highlighted Petronas's significant contribution to harnessing the country's energy potential. The Malaysian company has participated in hydrocarbon resource extraction projects in Turkmenistan for nearly 30 years and actively works on training qualified specialists for the sector.
The fuel and energy complex emerged as a vital area for further cooperation, and they explored new collaboration opportunities considering the reforms and economic development underway in Turkmenistan.
Petronas leaders expressed gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for creating favorable conditions for the company's operations in the country and expressed confidence in the continued successful development of bilateral relations.
Later, Serdar Berdimuhamedov visited the Skybridge observation bridge, which connects the Petronas Towers. This structure, standing at 451.9 meters, ranks among the tallest buildings in the world and symbolizes innovative construction solutions. The 58.4-meter-long, 750-ton bridge holds the title of the highest two-tiered bridge in the world.
The visit also highlighted that using advanced technologies in architecture and urban planning is a priority of a large-scale program initiated in Turkmenistan aimed at developing infrastructure, including in the capital Ashgabat and the new city of Arkadag.
After concluding his visit to Kuala Lumpur, the President of Turkmenistan expressed gratitude for the warm words and the gift of a publication dedicated to mutual high-level visits before flying back to Ashgabat.
Upon his arrival home, officials welcomed him and congratulated him on the successful completion of the visit. The outcomes of the trip confirmed Turkmenistan and Malaysia's commitment to strengthening their long-term, mutually beneficial partnership.
