New rules for recognizing foreign higher education diplomas came into effect in Turkmenistan on December 9, 2024, primarily concerning legal specialties, official media of Turkmenistan reported on Tuesday.
The changes require additional training for lawyers, verification of distance learning, and the establishment of a new examination commission. Graduates of law programs must now complete a three-month course developed by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Justice.
Students who took online courses due to force majeure circumstances must demonstrate their skills in electronic educational technologies. A special commission will evaluate lawyers' knowledge, including representatives from higher judicial and law enforcement bodies.
These measures aim to improve the quality of legal education in Turkmenistan and ensure that graduates meet the requirements of national legislation.
