Turkmenistan is set to join a regional trade project as part of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program 2030 spearheaded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Hojamyrat Geldimyradov announced on Friday during a government meeting held via video link.
According to Turkmenistan’s state news agency, Geldimyradov submitted a proposal to President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov for Turkmenistan to participate in the second phase of the CAREC trade sector initiative. The proposed involvement includes projects focused on “Trade Policy” and “Trade Facilitation.”
After hearing the report, President Berdimuhamedov highlighted the country’s commitment to developing mutually beneficial relations with foreign nations and international financial and economic organizations. He endorsed the proposal and instructed the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers to take the necessary measures to implement it.
President Berdimuhamedov also informed Cabinet members that preparations are underway to host an international conference in the Awaza National Tourist Zone from August 4 to 8. The forum is intended to enhance the economic potential of landlocked developing countries and promote regional and international trade cooperation. To ensure the event is held at a high level, the president signed a decree approving Turkmenistan’s hosting of the United Nations’ Third Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries and instructed the relevant authorities to carry out the necessary organizational work.
The Cabinet meeting also addressed several other issues related to the country’s internal affairs.
