The Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET) reached a total of 29,824 members in 2024, according to the annual report by the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan, which outlines the institution’s activities and the state of human rights in the country.
The report notes that 725 new members joined the Union during the reporting period, including 133 women entrepreneurs.
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) continue to strengthen their role in the national economy. In 2024, the private sector accounted for 87.84% of the construction industry, highlighting the growing importance of entrepreneurship in Turkmenistan’s economic development.
Last year, Turkmen entrepreneurs commissioned 17 new facilities, including 10 agricultural, 4 commercial, 1 textile, and 2 industrial projects, creating a total of 1,329 new jobs.
Founded in March 2008, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan is a public organization that unites representatives of the private sector. The Union defends the rights and legitimate interests of its members and promotes the development of entrepreneurship across the country.
