Representatives of Turkmenistan’s energy sector have been invited to attend parallel events on energy security at the G20 summit in November in South Africa, the Turkmen Embassy in Brussels said on Friday.

The invitation was discussed during a meeting in Brussels between Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Belgium, Sapar Palvanov; South Africa’s Ambassador to Belgium, Tokozile Khosa; and Brussels Africa Hub President Muktar Bah.

Officials discussed expanding cooperation between Turkmenistan, South Africa, and other African countries, noting potential partnerships in energy, agriculture, and logistics. Palvanov said Turkmenistan, with significant natural resources, is advancing clean energy projects, while South Africa brings experience in technological modernization and innovation.

The talks also covered collaboration in agriculture and logistics, food security, and the efficient management of port infrastructure.

The G20, or Group of Twenty, is an intergovernmental forum of 19 major economies and two regional organizations—the European Union and the African Union. Members include Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States, along with the EU and the African Union.
