A new winemaking complex developed by the private company Parahat was commissioned in Baherden District of Ahal Province, Watan habarlary reported Thursday.
The opening ceremony was attended by members of Turkmenistan’s Mejlis, officials from the Ahal provincial and district administrations, representatives of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, public organizations, labor collectives, elders, and local residents.
The facility is a modern winemaking complex with advanced engineering and technical infrastructure. Its annual production capacity is 48,000 dekaliters of red wine and 160,000 dekaliters of dry white wine, Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported Friday.
During the ceremony, builders who distinguished themselves in the construction of the facility received valuable gifts on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan.
The launch marks an important development for the region in the International Year of Peace and Trust and reflects the steady growth of export-oriented production in the private sector.
The complex is equipped with modern machinery, and products made from locally grown grapes have demonstrated stable demand in foreign markets. To establish a raw material base, 100 hectares of land have been allocated for vineyards.
On the same day, a new drinking water plant was commissioned in Goktepe District at the S.A. Niyazov Daikhan Association.
