President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held meetings in Tokyo with Fukuhiro Nukaga, Speaker of Japan’s House of Representatives, and Toshiaki Endo, head of the Japanese side of the Turkmen-Japanese Parliamentary Friendship Group, during an official working visit. The talks focused on developing interstate cooperation and expanding interparliamentary ties.
The sides highlighted active Turkmen-Japanese engagement within international organizations, particularly the United Nations, and emphasized coordinated actions to support global peace and sustainable development, Turkmenistan newspaper reported.
Both parties stressed that trade and economic relations remain a key area of bilateral cooperation, characterized by stability and long-term collaboration. They noted that Turkmenistan and leading Japanese companies have years of experience working together across various sectors, including the gas and chemical industries.
Berdimuhamedov and the Japanese parliament representatives put forward proposals to strengthen the Turkmen-Japanese Parliamentary Friendship Group and to establish mechanisms for cooperation between women leaders of the two countries.
On the same day, Berdimuhamedov met with executives of leading Japanese companies to discuss specific proposals for expanding cooperation with specialized and advanced firms.
