Zangezur Route Opens New Pathways for Central Asia to Europe
Transport of Transit Cargo via Turkmenistan

The Zangezur Corridor is emerging as a key element of Eurasia’s geoeconomic architecture. The project creates an alternative overland route between Asia and Europe, reducing reliance on a limited number of transit paths.

Logistically, the corridor does not duplicate existing routes but provides an alternative that diversifies supply chains, strengthens resilience, and offers more flexible tariff conditions, Trend reported Tuesday.

The Zangezur Corridor is gradually becoming part of the Middle Corridor linking China, Central Asia, the Caspian region, Türkiye and Europe, which is evolving into a fully fledged and independent transport route. Within this framework, the corridor complements the Baku–Tbilisi–Kars railway line.

For Central Asian countries, including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan, the expansion of overland routes provides broader access to markets in Türkiye and Europe.

The source said the route could over time become an alternative to traditional Asia-Europe transport corridors.
