Turkmenistan’s delegation is taking part Feb. 2-5 in a regional hands-on training course in Dushanbe focused on improving transparency of climate action in the land use, land-use change and forestry sector, known as LULUCF. The event is held under the Regional Climate Action Transparency Hub for Central Asia, or ReCATH, according to the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia.
The training covers approaches to preparing inventories of greenhouse gas emissions and removals, as well as methods for assessing climate policy that reflect country-specific conditions in the region. The agenda includes data management, accounting for land-use change and the use of analytical tools.
Mergen Kepbanov, director of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia project office in Turkmenistan, is taking part in the training, along with representatives of relevant Turkmenistan agencies, including the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Agriculture.
The ReCATH project aims to strengthen Central Asian countries’ capacity to develop and manage measurement, reporting and verification systems, known as MRV.
