The European Union and Turkmenistan have outlined priorities for cooperation in 2026, officials said Tuesday at a press briefing in Ashgabat.
The agenda includes climate change adaptation and environmental protection, energy efficiency, cybersecurity, transport infrastructure, investment promotion and support for the private sector, participants said.
The sides reaffirmed readiness to expand cooperation across political, economic, cultural and humanitarian areas.
EU representatives underscored contributions by member states, noting that cooperation is advancing under the Team Europe approach, which brings together national partners, businesses and international financial institutions.
Several events are planned for 2026. In March, Ashgabat is set to host an interparliamentary dialogue between the Mejlis of Turkmenistan and the European Parliament, the next round of the human rights dialogue, and a Turkmenistan–EU business forum scheduled for March 26.
Relations between the EU and Turkmenistan are governed by an Interim Trade Agreement covering trade-related matters, which entered into force in August 2010 pending ratification of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement by the European Parliament.
