Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan discussed steps to intensify direct contacts between private-sector entities and create favorable conditions for joint initiatives, Dunyo News Agency reported Sunday.
The issue was discussed during a meeting between Mergen Gurdov, chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan, and Ravshanbek Alimov, Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Turkmenistan.
The talks reviewed the current state of trade and economic cooperation and prospects for expanding ties between the business communities of the two countries.
The sides focused on plans to hold a series of bilateral business events in 2026, including the fifth meeting of the Turkmen-Uzbek Business Council and joint business forums.
They also discussed reciprocal participation of small and medium-sized enterprises in exhibitions and forums in both countries, noting that expanding exhibition and fair activities could help establish direct partnerships and increase bilateral trade.
Earlier, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan discussed the development of industrial cooperation between enterprises.
