Central Asian countries could launch a major new climate project as early as next year aimed at preserving soil fertility amid accelerating climate change, Kazakhstan’s Kazinform news agency reported Wednesday, citing the Jibek Joly television channel.
The project is being developed jointly with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ). It is expected to be based on scientific research, analytical data, and artificial intelligence technologies designed to forecast climate change and assess its impact on land resources.
According to Daniel Gerecke, the initiative will combine international expertise with modern approaches to sustainable land management.
A funding application for the project has already been submitted to the Green Climate Fund. If approved, implementation could begin in early 2027.
