Malaysia and Turkmenistan intend to sign a long-term cooperation agreement in the hydrocarbon sector on June 19. Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Economy Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir announced it during a briefing on global supply chain challenges, the national news agency BERNAMA reported on Thursday.
According to Deputy Minister, agreement will help strengthen Malaysia’s energy supply chain. Malaysia continues to expand bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the energy sector, including its long-term partnership with Turkmenistan in hydrocarbons.
He also stressed that despite global challenges, Malaysia continues to strengthen the resilience of its energy sector and diversify its supply sources.
Earlier, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said that the national oil and gas company PETRONAS is exploring opportunities to participate in promising gas projects in Turkmenistan. Malaysian delegation will visit Turkmenistan in mid-June to discuss the further development of energy cooperation. Before that Bloomberg reported this.
