Turkmen President Congratulates UK’s Boris Johnson
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov congratulated Boris Johnson on assuming the office of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov congratulated Boris Johnson on assuming the office of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The President of Turkmenistan highly evaluated the bilateral dialogue and expressed his confidence that the relations would develop and strengthen in the interests of the peoples of the two countries.

Boris Johnson was chosen as the U.K.'s next prime minister on Tuesday, with a resounding mandate from the Conservative Party. He became prime minister on Wednesday after winning an election to lead the governing Conservatives. He will have over three months to lead the U.K. out of the European Union by Oct. 31.

Theresa May announced her resignation as party leader in late May which took effect on 7 June. She stated that she would remain in office as Prime Minister until a successor was appointed. She stood down as Prime Minister on 24 July, following the election of her former Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson.
