At an extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Friday, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov focused on the progress of construction works in the country.
Addressing the Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, hyakims and other officials, the Turkmen Leader drew attention to a large-scale construction program for 2020 and noted that the total volume of investments in the program reaches almost 40 billion manats.
The Head of State said the investments in this sphere include the construction and modernization of factories, hospitals, medical centers and policlinics, kindergartens, culture houses, administrative centers, new towns and residential buildings.
The President assigned the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Shamuhammet Durdylyyev to keep under strict control the construction of industrial and social facilities, especially new buildings in Ashgabat.
During the meeting, the Head of State emphasized the need to classify the construction of the Turkmenabat-Ashgabat-Turkmenbashi high-speed highway as one of the most important construction projects.
Turkmen Leader noted the approaching 30th anniversary of independence and made a proposal to build a unique monument in honor of this significant event, so the future generations will remember it.
In this regard, the Head of State noted the appropriateness of constructing a 300-meter high stele on the most elevated site and assigned Durdylyyev to prepare a construction project in the near future and announce a tender for its construction.
As part of the programs in Turkmenistan, investment in the construction industry amounted to nearly $35 billion.
Last year, 1704 industrial and socio-cultural facilities worth about $10 billion were commissioned in Turkmenistan.
