Turkmen Customs Officers Study New Methods of Border, Customs Control
Representatives of border and customs services of all countries participating in the BOMCA 9 Program and the EU experts took part in the regional seminar.

Representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan took part in the Regional Seminar on Strengthening Inter-Agency Cooperation in the Field of Delegation of Border and Customs Control Functions, which took place in Almaty, Kazakhstan on February 11-13.

The event was held within the framework of the Central Asia Border Management Assistance Program (BOMCA 9). Representatives of border and customs services of all countries participating in the Program and the EU experts took part in the seminar.

Participants said the EU countries such as Finland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania have been actively using the method of delegating functions between customs and border services in their work.

The EU experts said the method allows to speed up the movement of passengers and goods across the border and more efficiently use the resources of border agencies. Within the framework of the seminar, the participants got acquainted with the innovation and discussed its advantages and risks.

The attendees of the seminar paid special attention to interdepartmental cooperation, its main objectives and legal framework; synchronized control and delegation of tasks of border and customs control at the checkpoint; cooperation in the field of information exchange and risk analysis.
