During the holiday, shopping and entertainment centers all over Turkmenistan get crowded. Women are presented with sweets along with beautiful flowers. They also receive jewelry, textiles, souvenirs, and household appliances as gifts.

Concerts and other festive events dedicated to women take place all over Turkmenistan.

On the eve of the holiday, which is celebrated every year in the early spring, mothers who have given birth to and raised eight or more children are awarded the honorary title of " Ene mähri" (Mother's Love) of Turkmenistan. This year is no exception. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on March 6 signed a Decree on awarding the honorary title of " Ene mähri".

"Mothers full of affection have an important role to play in raising our future generations to be healthy and spirited people loyal to our Fatherland and our brave people," the Presidential Decree said.
