President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Monday congratulated Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on his re-election as President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
In a congratulatory letter, the Turkmen Leader expressed confidence that the traditionally friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, based on mutual respect and trust, would further develop and strengthen in the interests of the peoples of the two countries.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also congratulated the President of Afghanistan and the entire Afghan people on the International Day of Novruz, expressing the wishes for peace and prosperity.
The Head of State emphasized in his message that this bright holiday, recognized as an integral part of the cultural heritage of mankind that has absorbed high humanistic ideals, is of particular importance in strengthening friendship between nations.
On February 20, the President of Turkmenistan signed the Decree, approving the Programme for the provision of humanitarian aid by Turkmenistan in the context of the peaceful development of Afghanistan in 2020-2022. The three-year programme includes the implementation of 12 relevant activities.
Mohammad Ashraf Ghani was re-elected and sworn in as President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan on March 9.
