Silk farmers in Turkmenistan’s northeastern velayat of Lebap handed over about 200 tons of cocoon to the state, thus fulfilling the production plan by 110%.

This year, mostly silkworms from the velayat’s breeding plants were grown. Silkworms adapted to local conditions showed better results than expected. Thus, the farmers exceeded the cocoon production target of 181 tons.

The silk farmers of Danev, Dovletli and Kerki etraps fulfilled the plan of delivering the cocoon in the front ranks not only at the velayat level, but also at the country level.

The collected cocoons in the velayat will be dried and sent for further sale.

Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection and the governors of velayats of Turkmenistan were entrusted to ensure the production of 2100 tons of cocoons this year.
