Turkmenistan Intends to Share Experience in Combatting Infectious Diseases
Turkmenistan’s actions in the current situation fully comply with the WHO recommendations on combatting the global COVID-19 pandemic.

A letter from the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus was distributed as an official document of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly in all the working languages of this organization, as a separate information material.

According to the document, Turkmenistan’s actions in the current situation fully comply with the WHO recommendations on combatting the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Turkmenistan is fully aware of the need to ensure in these conditions the stability of trade-economic relations and transport links between states, according to the information material on the actions.

“Due to the coordinated steps of Turkmenistan and its neighboring states, a normal functioning of transport corridors along the East-West and North-South routes has been ensured,” the document states.

According to the document, the experience gained by Turkmenistan in the field of healthcare, particularly in combatting infectious diseases could be used in the work of the WHO.

Based on these systemic steps, the Government, in close cooperation with the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, developed a Preparedness and Response Plan of Turkmenistan for an Acute Infectious Disease.
