Wheat Harvest Starts in Turkmenistan
Turkmen farmers intend to harvest 1.4 million tons of wheat this year.

Farmers in Turkmenistan’s Ahal, Lebap and Mary velayats started harvesting wheat on Friday. Wheat growers of Balkan and Dashoguz velayats will join them on June 12.

Turkmen farmers intend to harvest 1.4 million tons of wheat from 690 thousand hectares of plots this year, including 400 thousand tons in Ahal velayat, 345 thousand tons in Mary, 310 thousand tons in Lebap, 265 thousand tons in Dashoguz and 80 thousand tons in Balkan.

The country has created favorable conditions for government procurement of products, tax exemptions for farmers, and for the purchase of seeds, mineral fertilizers and plant protection products. Financial and economic incentives for agricultural producers further increased their interest in effective work.

In this regard, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the Resolution "on Procurement of chemicals for agricultural crops" during the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Friday.

According to the document, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection is authorized to conclude contracts with relevant foreign companies for the purchase of chemicals for pest and perennial weed control.
