C5+1 Ministerial Meeting to Consider Issues of Economic Cooperation

The ministerial meeting in the format of "Central Asia - USA" (C5+1), with the participation of the U.S. delegation, will be held online on Tuesday, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said Monday.

The United States Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad and CEO of the United States International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) Adam Boehler will visit Uzbekistan from Monday to Wednesday.

“The delegation will explore investment opportunities to promote the economic recovery of Afghanistan and ensure peace and stability in the region,” the statement said.

The Uzbek Foreign Ministry also added that during the C5+1 ministerial meeting, the heads of the foreign affairs agencies will consider issues of regional economic cooperation and the development of interaction between the countries of Central Asia and the U.S.

The online meeting will gather foreign ministers of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and the U.S. Secretary of State Michael Pompeo.

The U.S. delegation will also hold talks with members of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the upper chamber of the Uzbek parliament, and Uzbek ministries of Foreign Affairs, Investment and Foreign Trade, Economic Development and Poverty Reduction.
