Turkmenistan’s Balkan Shipyard to Build 12 Merchant Ships
Balkan Shipbuilding and Repairing Yard OJSC plans to build 12 ships by 2025.

Turkmenistan's Balkan Shipbuilding and Repairing Yard Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) has been operating as an independent enterprise since May last year. The company currently intends to build ships for Turkmenistan’s merchant fleet.

In accordance with the seven-year program of socio-economic development of the country, the company plans to build 12 ships by 2025, Turkmenistan’s Golden Age news outlet reported on Friday.

Since its commissioning, the plant has repaired 24 vessels. The enterprise has also carried out repairs of medium complexity on seven and inter-trip repairs on 23 vessels.

The company is designed to carry out repair work for large and small vessels. The yard is equipped with systems for launching and repairing vessels with 10 thousand ton capacity and building 4-6 vessels per year.

The yard is also capable of annually repairing 20-30 ships by processing 2,000 tons of steel.
