During an online meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on Friday, Vice-Premier Shamuhammet Durduliyev reported to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the state of affairs in the areas under his supervision, in particular, in the electricity and construction sectors.
The Vice-Premier Durduliyev reported that such significant facilities as the 432-megawatt gas turbine power plant in Lebap velayat and the Turkmen section of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP) power transmission line will be commissioned in 2021, TDH news agency reports.
Their commissioning will help improve energy supply to consumers in Lebap velayat and increase the volume of supplies of Turkmen electricity to Afghanistan, the Turkmen official added.
In addition, the first stage of the ring power transmission system along Ahal-Balkan and Balkan-Dashoguz routes, and a complex of substations at its Ahal-Balkan section will be commissioned this year.
In this regard, the Vice-Premier submitted for consideration to Turkmen President a draft Resolution on the conclusion of additional agreements on the purchase of the necessary equipment, materials and vehicles to improve the reliability of the country's energy system.
After signing the relevant Resolution, the Head of State sent it to the Vice-Premier and instructed him to ensure control over the course of its implementation.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted the importance of measures on further modernization of the country's electric power system in strict accordance with the tasks outlined in the Program of Socio-Economic Development of Turkmenistan for 2020-2025.
