The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is launching a new program to co-finance projects for the implementation and certification of ISO standards in Turkmen private enterprises.
Registration of applications for private Turkmen companies, planning to export their products or cooperate with foreign companies, implementing projects in Turkmenistan and international markets, began on Tuesday, according to the USAID’s press release issued last week.
The program's primary goal is to implement and certify two international standards: occupational health and safety (ISO 45001) and the environmental management standard (ISO 14001) at four selected companies. USAID will co-finance 50% of the cost of the certification.
The project is aimed at enterprises operating in light industry the production of footwear, leather goods, household chemicals, hygiene products, carpet products, as well as in food and textile industries. USAID also accepts applications from companies operating in other sectors.
The USAID was established in 1961 to advance the US government's efforts in international development and humanitarian action.
