Turkmenistan offers business opportunities in the textile and oil and gas industries for the Swiss private sector, the Baku-based Trend news agency reported on Friday citing the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research of Switzerland.
The ministry noted that the opportunities are also presented in the fields of infrastructure and construction.
Total trade between Switzerland and Turkmenistan from January through October 2020 amounted to 6.97 million CHF ($7.6 million), the Federal Department previously reported.
The Turkmen exports to Switzerland during the period amounted to $143,368, while imports – $7.5 million.
From January to October 2020, Turkmenistan imported pharmaceuticals from Switzerland worth $3.1 million, as well as machinery and spare parts worth $2.7 million.
Meanwhile, most imported Turkmen products by Switzerland were machinery and their spare parts, as well as optical, medical, and precision instruments.
Turkmenistan established diplomatic relations with Switzerland on May 8, 1992. An Intergovernmental Agreement on investment promotion and their mutual protection was signed in 2008.
