President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received on Wednesday the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, who arrived in the country on a working visit, the country’s official media reports.
During the meeting, the Turkmen President and the top diplomat of Uzbekistan exchanged views on the current state and prospects for the further development of a multifaceted interstate dialogue in a bilateral and multilateral format, primarily on the platform of major international organizations and authoritative regional structures.
The readiness to expand friendly relations between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres and the need to create favorable conditions for expanding cooperation in a number of important areas was also especially emphasized during the meeting, according to the report.
In conclusion, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Uzbek Foreign Minister exchanged good wishes, expressing their conviction in the progressive development of the interstate dialogue.
On the same day, the Turkmen-Uzbek negotiations were held with the participation of the heads of relevant ministries and departments. Upon the results of the meeting, the officials signed important bilateral documents, including the Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of Uzbekistan on the Joint Turkmen-Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission on Water Management Issues and the Supplementary Agreement to the Agreement between the Government of Turkmenistan and the Government of Uzbekistan on paid land use.
