The opening ceremony of Arkadag hotel, erected in the south of Turkmenistan’s capital of Ashgabat, took place on Tuesday with the participation of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the country’s official media reports.
The solemn ceremony was attended by government officials, heads of Turkmenistan’s bicameral parliament - Milli Gengesh, heads of diplomatic missions and representative offices of international organizations, and the media.
Arkadag Hotel was constructed by the French firm Bouygues Batiment International by order of the capital's Hyakimlik (Administration). The hotel complex is spread out in the shape of a semicircle on an area of more than 220 thousand square meters.
The height of the 14-storey hotel is 76.5 meters. It includes a central building with a length of 290 meters, which is adjacent to two wings, each of which is 134 meters long.
One of the main highlights of the hotel is the man-made river flowing through its territory. A park area for recreation and walks locates along the waterway. The hotel also houses the kitchen, built in the form of an Ak öý, a traditional yurt.
Along with living rooms that meet international standards of hotel service, the hotel also has conference rooms, restaurants, shops, internet cafes, a SPA area with a swimming pool and saunas, and sports grounds.
The opening of the Arkadag hotel is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the independence of Turkmenistan.
