Turkmen Presidential Candidate Serdar Berdimuhamedov Meets Voters in Dashoguz

The presidential candidate nominated by the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan – Deputy Chairman of the Turkmen Government Serdar Berdimuhamedov – held a meeting with voters in the country’s northern province of Dashoguz on Monday.

During the event at the meeting hall of Dashoguz province administration, the candidate's confidant, teacher of secondary school No. 65 of the province’s Gorogly etrap, familiarized the audience with the biography of Serdar Berdimuhamedov, described his personal qualities and vast experience.

The presidential candidate Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who then spoke, thanked the voters for nominating him for such a high and responsible post, and said it is a great honor for him to take part as a candidate in the upcoming presidential elections.

“This is a big responsibility not only for me, but also for all the young generation brought up during the years of independence,” Serdar Berdimuhamedov said.

The Vice-Premier outlined the main directions of his election program, including the increase of Turkmenistan’s international standing and further successful development of the country.

The candidate said if elected to the highest state post, he intends, along with other regions of the country, to pay great attention to Dashoguz province.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov also briefed on the range of his tasks, among them development of the housing construction, supplying the population with quality drinking water, rational use of water resources, development of the national and international tourism in the region, construction of new modern schools and kindergartens in the cities and villages.

The candidate's program also outlines the support for entrepreneurs, their active involvement in the reform of the agricultural sector through creation of various preferential conditions for them by the state. He said these measures will ensure further development of the processing industry of agricultural products, including sesame, wheat and cotton. Also, taking into account the wishes of voters, the candidate assured that he would continue to stimulate private producers.

In the course of a conversation with voters about the further development of the country, Serdar Berdimuhamedov answered numerous questions from the audience, specifying some of the provisions of his election platform.

Thanking the audience for the warm welcome and attention, the Turkmen presidential candidate assured voters once again that he would devote all his strength and knowledge to use the experience gained over the years of work for the further prosperity of the country.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov was nominated for the country’s highest government post by the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan at its extraordinary congress held in Ashgabat last Monday.

Early presidential elections in Turkmenistan will take place in March 12.
