Kazakhstan May Stop Natural Gas Exports in 2024
At the same time, the Kazakh Energy Minister said additional gas for further gasification of the country could be imported from Russia or Turkmenistan.

Gas consumption is high in Kazakhstan, the country’s Energy Minister Bolat Akchulakov said at a press briefing at the Central Communications Service under the President of Kazakhstan on Friday, Kapital.kz business information agency reports.

This will most likely lead to the stoppage of natural gas exports from Kazakhstan in 2024, Minister Bolat Akchulakov stated, adding that “because we will consume this gas within the country”.

At the same time, the Kazakh Energy Minister said additional gas for further gasification of the country could be imported from Russia or Turkmenistan.

“But Turkmenistan is far from the north. Russia is closer to the north. Therefore, at the first stage, I think, there will be nothing terrible if gasification is carried out at the expense of Russian gas,” Bolat Akchulakov said.

In January, the Deputy Chairman of Cabinet, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov announced Turkmenistan’s readiness to start natural gas exports to Kazakhstan.
