President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Friday took part in a mass bike ride on the occasion of the World Bicycle Day, the country’s official media reports.
The government officials, members of the Turkmen bicameral parliament, the heads of military and law enforcement agencies, foreign diplomatic missions in Turkmenistan, public organizations, the media, rectors of universities, and students also took part in the morning bike ride.
The route of the cyclists ran from the Bicycle monument, located at the intersection of Chandybil Avenue and Bekreve Street, through the capital's highways to the Rukhyet Palace.
During the ride, the Turkmen President demonstrated his physical and athletic training. Earlier, holding various leadership positions, the Head of State, the honored coach of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov also regularly participated in such events, proving the advantages of active and healthy lifestyle by personal example.
“World Bicycle Day, which embodies peace and friendship, the high principles of sports and humanism, the unity and cohesion of our society, is inscribed in the national annals as a landmark event,” President Berdimuhamedov said in his congratulatory message to the people of the country.
On the occasion of the World Bicycle Day, bike rides were also organized by the diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan abroad.
