The railway administrations of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Iran and Türkiye held the first joint meeting in Istanbul to discuss the development of the Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Türkiye multimodal transport corridor, the press service of the Uzbekiston temir yullari reported on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the parties focused on reducing tariffs for rail transport along the corridor and the goal of increasing freight traffic. The sides agreed that affordable and competitive prices for transportation along the corridor would facilitate the growth of goods and cargo transport.
As an outcome of the meeting, the railway administrations of the corridor participants signed Protocol. This document represents a significant milestone in the development of the transport corridor, as it solidifies the agreement among all parties to collaborate and work together to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
Protocol on the formation of the transport corridor Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Türkiye was signed during the 12th meeting of transport ministers of the member states of the Economic Cooperation Organisation, held on November 2 in Tashkent.
