President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Wednesday received the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye, Alparslan Bayraktar.

Welcoming the guest on Turkmenistan’s hospitable soil, the head of state expressed confidence that meetings and consultations with Turkmen colleagues during this visit would be fruitful, fostering the development and strengthening of energy relations between the two countries.

Expressing gratitude for the time dedicated to the meeting and the opportunity to discuss pressing issues of interstate interaction in person, the guest conveyed warm greetings to the President of Turkmenistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, from the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. It was emphasized that Türkiye attaches great importance to expanding cooperation with Turkmenistan, which is successfully developing in a wide range of areas.

Thanking the guest for the kind words, the President of Turkmenistan extended warm greetings and best wishes to the head of the brotherly state, noting that the centuries-old Turkmen-Turkish ties have a rich history, providing a solid foundation for implementing priority tasks in political, economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

Cooperation between our countries is successfully developing and strengthening based on mutual trust and support, both bilaterally and within international organizations.

In the context of multifaceted Turkmen-Turkish partnership, the trade-economic sphere holds a special place. It was noted that the Republic of Türkiye currently occupies a leading position in the foreign trade turnover of our country. There are enormous opportunities for developing fruitful bilateral and regional relations in the fuel-energy sector, mining, transport and communications, agriculture, and investment.

Continuing the meeting, the head of state noted that Turkmenistan is among the countries rich in natural resources and is ready to continue cooperation with Türkiye in the energy sector. It was highlighted that one of the most important issues currently is the transportation of Turkmen gas to the brotherly Republic of Türkiye and subsequently to European countries.

In this context, it was noted that during the visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to the Republic of Türkiye in March this year, the "Declaration of Intent on Cooperation in Hydrocarbon Resources between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Türkiye" and the "Memorandum of Mutual Cooperation on the Development of Partnership in Natural Gas between the Türkmengaz (Turkmen Gas) State Concern and the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye" were signed. These documents serve as an important legal foundation for further expanding bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas sector.

Moreover, the construction of a combined cycle power plant on the Turkmen Caspian coast is currently ongoing, the commissioning of which will facilitate the export of Turkmen electricity to neighboring countries across the Caspian Sea, as well as to brotherly Türkiye and other countries. In this regard, discussions focused on opportunities for enhancing cooperation in the aforementioned areas. In this context, the head of state confirmed his readiness to consider proposals and support productive initiatives from the Turkish side.

In conclusion, confidence was expressed that strategic interstate cooperation would continue to develop successfully for the benefit of the two brotherly peoples and countries.
