Turkmen Scientist Develops Gelatin Capsules With Wormwood Essential Oil
Scientist at the Institute of Chemistry, Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, conducting laboratory research, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan

Young scientist Berdi Berdiyev has patented a new technology for producing soft gelatin capsules containing essential oil from gypsum wormwood, according to Turkmenistan’s official media on Monday.

Berdiyev’s research led to the development of production stages for capsules with unique biopharmaceutical properties, including precise dosing, high bioavailability, and protection from external factors. His work was awarded limited patent No. 971, registered by the State Intellectual Property Service of the Ministry of Finance of Turkmenistan in October 2024.

The Laboratory for Pharmaceutical Production Technologies at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan employs innovative methods and bioactive compounds from local plants. The research draws on the encyclopedic work Medicinal Plants of Turkmenistan by Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, which provides valuable information on the medicinal properties of native plants and their traditional uses.

Gypsum wormwood, an endemic plant of the Kopetdag mountains, is rich in bioactive substances and possesses antioxidant properties, making it effective in the development of antifungal and anti-inflammatory medications.
