The Turkmen company Derýa ýoly has launched the production of stone paper under the brand Ekoston. Located in the industrial zone of the Ak Bugday etrap in the Ahal region, the enterprise produces 5,500 tons of stone paper annually, as reported by the newspaper Rysgal on Monday.

The company presented the product at an exhibition celebrating the 17th anniversary of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET). The stone paper is made by adding polymers to crushed marble (calcite). The company uses both local and imported raw materials.

This paper stands out for its strength, waterproof properties, and resistance to fading. Unlike traditional paper production, which requires about 10,000 liters of water and 20 trees per ton, the production process does not rely on water or wood.

The company uses stone paper to produce notebooks, drawing albums, envelopes, cards, small brochures, advertising and printed materials, disposable tableware, and paper bags. It can also be used for packaging food and industrial products and for making labels.
