Turkmenistan is ramping up processing of iodine-bromine waters — a valuable hydromineral resource in high demand worldwide.
The main deposits are concentrated in the country’s southwestern regions, according to official Turkmen media on Friday,
Iodine extraction plants of the Türkmenhimiýa (Turkmen Chemicals) State Concern operates using thermal drilling waters at the Hazar, Balkanabat, Boyadag, and Bereket. Annual iodine production reaches 525 tons, placing Turkmenistan among global leaders.
Development plans include exploring new deposits in the Gograndag-Ekerem and Karadashli areas. Significant potential lies in formation waters around closed oil wells in the Esenguly district of Balkan province.
