Ambassadors from Central Asian countries, including Turkmenistan, attended an official luncheon with the Commissioner of the Korea Customs Service on January 30, 2026, focused on strengthening bilateral and regional cooperation in customs, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in South Korea reported.

The meeting covered new forms of cooperation under the “Central Asia–South Korea” framework, information exchange, participation in international conferences and projects, as well as training and professional development programs for specialists.

Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to South Korea, Begench Durdyyev, highlighted the active participation of Turkmen representatives in Korea Customs Service training programs and confirmed the continued effective cooperation between the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and its Korean counterpart.

Turkmenistan and South Korea continue to develop their strategic partnership, established on February 7, 1992. Cooperation spans energy, shipbuilding, trade, healthcare, and culture. In 2025, direct flights were launched on the Ashgabat–Seoul–Ashgabat route.
