Turkmenistan Participates in C5+1 Critical Minerals Dialogue in Astana

Turkmenistan’s Minister of Industry and Construction Production Toyguly Nurov, participated in the C5+1 Critical Minerals Dialogue held in Astana. Kazakhstan’s Minister of Industry and Construction Yersayin Nagaspayev and the U.S. President’s Special Representative for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor co-chaired the meeting, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and Construction reported on Wednesday.

The event joined government representatives from Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. During the dialogue, participants discussed priority areas of cooperation between the Central Asian countries and the United States in geological exploration, critical minerals extraction, processing, and access to global markets. The meeting was held ahead of the 16th International Mining and Metallurgy Congress, Astana Mining & Metallurgy 2026.

The participants also outlined key areas for long-term cooperation within the C5+1 framework. These include the development of high-tech processing industries, the establishment of industrial clusters, technology transfer initiatives, workforce training, and the expansion of scientific and technical cooperation. Special attention given to strengthening logistics cooperation to ensure reliable access to international markets.

Following the meeting, all parties reaffirmed their interest in advancing multilateral cooperation and implementing joint industrial and infrastructure projects.

The C5+1 format is a multilateral platform tot strengthening relations between the United States and the five Central Asian countries, established in 2015. The initiative focuses on economic development, regional cooperation, and security issues.
