Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received president and chief executive officer of Toyo Engineering Corporation Eiji Hosoi. During the meeting sides discussed the development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Japanese engineering company, Turkmen state media reported on Monday.

Hosoi thanked Berdimuhamedov for receiving him and said he was proud of Turkmenistan's achievements, describing the country as one of Toyo Engineering's key partners. He also congratulated President Berdimuhamedov on the third anniversary of the founding of Arkadag city and National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on his birthday.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked Hosoi for his remarks and expressed confidence that the visit would provide fresh momentum for expanding cooperation with Toyo Engineering. He noted that major Japanese companies have implemented a number of projects in Turkmenistan's gas and chemical industries over the years, highlighting the construction of the gas chemical complex in Kiyanly with the participation of Toyo Engineering.

The Kiyanly polymer plant was built under a 2013 agreement between the state concern Turkmengaz, LG International Corp., Hyundai Engineering Co., Ltd. and Toyo Engineering Corporation. The project, valued at more than $3.4 billion, was commissioned in October 2018. The facility is designed to process 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually and produce 386,000 metric tons of high-density polyethylene and 81,000 metric tons of polypropylene.

The Head of the state emphasized there was further potential to expand bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed Turkmenistan's readiness to consider the company's proposals in the oil and gas and chemical sectors. Hosoi thanked the government for its confidence and pledged that Toyo Engineering would continue to fulfill its contractual obligations to a high standard.
