On the sixth session of the sixth convocation of Mejlis, the parliament members reviewed draft Laws on Trademarks and Appellation of Origin of Goods, official Turkmen media reports.
The participants noted that volume and variety of products made in Turkmenistan is expanding at a steady pace. In accordance with the initiatives of the President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the construction of new industrial and processing facilities, including with involvement of private companies, allowed supplying domestic market with quality products, which successfully compete with foreign analogues. The products are also exported to the world markets. The increase in local production and manufacturing creates urgency for new legal acts related to trademarks.
Laws on Trademarks and Appellation of Origin of Goods are considered important due to the increasing foreign trade activities of local enterprises, which employ up-to-date business and marketing strategies.
The Turkmen parliament also discussed other laws and regulations.
The draft legislative acts submitted to the regular session of the sixth convocation of the Mejlis were unanimously approved and adopted.
A trademark is a recognizable sign, design, or expression which identifies products or services of a particular source from those of other companies and entrepreneurs.
