Hazar Balyk Produces 100 Tons of Sturgeon Meat Per Year
The capacity of the complex is designed to produce 100 tons of sturgeon meat, 2 tons of sturgeon caviar per year

There are over 100 species of fish in the Caspian Sea. The most commons are beluga, bream, carp, ram, herring, mullet, pike, zander, perch, carp and sprat.

The sturgeon is one of the most ancient and valuable fish in this large inland body of water. 20 percent of the world reserves of sturgeon, also called “red fish”, live in the Caspian sea.

In order to increase the volume and range of high-quality fish products intended for the domestic market in Turkmenistan, the complex of the Hazar Balyk Open Joint Stock Company (OJSC) was put into operation in Turkmenbashi etrap of Balkan velayat on September 7, 2015. Hazar Balyk OJSC, a member of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, has become a leading company in artifical breeding of sturgeon, black caviar and fish processing in Turkmenistan since then.

Hazar Balyk complex has been equipped with modern and state-of-the-art equipment produced by manufacturers in the USA, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. The annual capacity of the facility, located on a total area of 6 hectares, is designed to produce 100 tons of commercial fish of sturgeon species, 2 tons of sturgeon caviar, 170 tons of smoked, dried and other fish products and 10 million units of canned goods.

The complex currently employs around 150 people.

The company produces tons of cold and hot smoked fish delicacies. The smoking of fish is generally done for the unique taste and flavour imparted by the smoking process. The method also preserves vitamins useful for human health. The company also produces salted and spiced pickled fish.

After processing, fish products are selected by size for subsequent removal of skins and bones. The products are then enriched with flavoring vitamins and other elements, then canned.

In addition to smoked fish processing plants, fish are also prepared by the method of drying.

Hazar Balyk OJSC was jointly founded by the local private companies Myradym, Guş toplumy and Rowana and Halys in 2013.
