Entrepreneur Dovlet Hojamyradov prepares for the first harvest of tomatoes from his 1.6 hectare greenhouse in Lebap velayat’s Sayat etrap in the northeastern Turkmenistan.
Private farmer planted in September 2019 over 30 thousand seedlings of tomato cultivar bandita in the greenhouse. The seedlings are pollinated by Bambus bees brought from Turkey.
After the harvest, the entrepreneur plans to deliver it to both domestic and foreign markets.
Each bush is expected to grow 20-25 kg of the crop. The greenhouse currently employs 15 people.
Turkmen entrepreneurs exported about 16 thousand tons of tomatoes last year, mainly to the CIS countries and the UAE.
