Turkmenistan jointly with the United Nations (UN) Agencies developed draft Country preparedness and response plan (CPRP) on COVID-19.
The main purpose of the plan is to identify procedures and mechanisms for Turkmenistan’s cooperation with World Health Organization (WHO) and other organizations in response to COVID-19. The plan aims to prevent the entry of COVID-19 to the country by taking effective measures and organizing interagency coordination with the UN agencies in Turkmenistan and other international partners.
The UN Agencies, Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Health and Medical Industry, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Türkmenhowaýollary (Turkmenistan Airlines) Agency, State Migration Service, National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan, media and other reviewed the draft CPRP in a meeting in Ashgabat on Tuesday and agreed on the next steps, the UN Office in Turkmenistan said in its Tuesday press release.
“The plan defines mechanisms of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United Nations, as well as other partners on preparedness and response measures to COVID-19,” Elena Panova, UN Resident Coordinator, said in her opening speech. “This is a live document and it will be updated regularly if needed.”
The UN said the plan determines the emergency response goals, strategies and actions, and also describes the response structure and the distribution of responsibilities that will ensure the coordination and effectiveness of emergency actions.
According to World Health Organization’s data, Turkmenistan has no confirmed coronavirus cases.
