Russia received almost $1 million worth of humanitarian aid from Turkmenistan against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic, Tass news agency cites Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko as saying during an online meeting of the Russian upper house's Foreign Affairs Committee on Monday.
"Turkmenistan is probably the only country from the Central Asian states that provided Russia with humanitarian aid during the pandemic. It sent a large cargo [worth] about $1 million to Astrakhan consisting of food products, oil products and other things," said Andrey Rudenko.
The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister noted that relations between the two countries show positive dynamics, which is also reflected in an increase in trade turnover.
Trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Russia neared $ 694.8 million in 2019, which exceeds the figure for 2018 by 56.47%. Bilateral trade turnover is expected between the countries is expected to exceed $1 billion this year.
