Around 200 domains, where online shops and sites providing paid services operate, are registered in Turkmenistan, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET) reported on Tuesday.
Most of these online sites operate in the country’s capital city of Ashgabat, but are gradually expanding their activities to other regions of the country, according to the report.
One of the country's largest online platforms, Ynamdar, recently opened branches in the cities of Mary and Turkmenbashi. The number of orders in these cities has so far reached 150-200 per day, while in the capital, the company is already processing about 3 thousand online orders daily.
Online shopping services have become especially popular in Turkmenistan after the introduction of measures to prevent the entry and spread of infectious diseases in the country. During this period, dozens of new trading platforms started operating in the country. Most of the trading platforms operate under private enterprises, according to the UIET.
According to Türkmendomen (Turkmen Domain) Economic Society, the total number of domain names registered in Turkmenistan has reached 732.
