Turkmenistan’s Dashoguz Power Plant to Switch to Combined Cycle Operation
The conversion of the power plant to combined cycle operation is expected to significantly reduce the level of damage to the environment.

Turkmenistan envisages conversion of its 254-MW Dashoguz State Power Plant from simple to combined cycle operation, according to the remarks made by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov during the working meeting held within the framework of his visit to the country’s northern velayat of Dashoguz.

The meeting was attended by management of the country’s energy complex and specialists of velayat departments of the Ministry of Energy.

The implementation of these measures will make it possible to produce additional amounts of electricity without the consumption of natural gas, and significantly reducing the level of damage to the environment, the Head of State said,

The Turkmen President emphasized that the implementation of the high-voltage overhead Ahal-Balkan-Dashoguz power line project would create another reliable source of electricity, which would give a powerful impetus to the socio-economic development of Dashoguz velayat.

Highlighting the ongoing export of Turkmen electricity to neighboring Iran, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, President Berdimuhamedov said it is possible to supply electricity to third countries via Uzbekistan and Iran.

At the meeting, Charymyrat Purchekov, the Deputy Chairman of the Government for the industrial and construction complex, reported on the ongoing works on implementation of the project initiated by the Turkmen Leader to create a unified energy system in the country.

During the visit to the velayat, the Turkmen President inspected the construction of the 500-kilovolt Balkan-Dashoguz power transmission line. At the construction site, the Turkmen Leader was provided with detailed information about the development of the country's energy system, the activities carried out within its structures and new facilities.
