Deputy Governor of Mary Province Nominated as Turkmen Presidential Candidate

The Deputy Governor of Mary Province Agajan Bekmyradov has been nominated to run in early presidential elections that will take place in March 12.

Bekmyradov’s nomination was proposed and approved by Agrarian Party of Turkmenistan at its fourth extraordinary congress held at the building of the Agricultural Complex in Ashgabat on Tuesday, the country’s official media reports.

Agajan Bekmyradov graduated from the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction in 1995 with a degree in civil engineering. He held various posts in the administration of etraps of Mary velayat, in the council of the Turkmen youth organization of Vekilbazar etrap and in the trade union organizations of this etrap. Since April 2017, Bekmyradov has been the Deputy Governor of Mary velayat.

Following the speeches, the party members voted to nominate Bekmyradov for the highest government office.

Addressing the participants, Agajan Bekmyradov assured that he understood the seriousness of the great responsibility entrusted to him and he would make every effort to justify the trust.

The presidential election campaign in Turkmenistan started on Monday.
