President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymuhamedov sent messages of condolences to the heads of Türkiye and Syria over the earthquakes on Monday that caused numerous deaths and widespread destruction.
The messages of condolences to the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad were published by the official Turkmen media on Monday.
The Head of State expressed, on behalf of the people and Government of Turkmenistan and his own, words of sincere empathy and support to the families and friends of the victims at this difficult moment and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan and National Leader of the Turkmen people, also sent deep condolences to the Presidents of Türkiye and Syria over the strong earthquakes, which caused numerous human casualties, injuries and widespread destruction.
The death toll in ten provinces of Türkiye as a result of earthquakes stood at 2,921, the country’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said in its statement on Tuesday morning. And at least 1,444 people were killed in Syria, according to Reuters.
The U.S. Geological Survey measured Monday’s earthquake at 7.8. It said the quake was centered about 33 kilometers from Gaziantep. According to the AFAD, a total of 243 earthquakes occurred since Monday morning.
During the second half of the day, a second massive earthquake of 7.6 magnitude has hit the southeast of Turkey.
Many countries offered to send help, whether medical supplies, search teams or money.
