Annageldi Yazmyradov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan in charge of the agro-industrial complex, during the online cabinet meeting hosted by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on Friday informed that the total area of agricultural land intended for cultivation of various crops, taking into account soil and climatic conditions of the regions and the scientifically sound crop rotation, will be over 1.41 million hectares and vegetable crops will be planted on 106 thousand hectares.
During the government meeting, the Turkmen President signed a Resolution "On the zoning of crops and production by provinces in 2023”.
The Resolution was signed to successfully continue reforms in the country's agriculture, placement of crops by their type in accordance with the soil and climatic conditions of provinces and districts, as well as to further increase agricultural production through scientifically sound crop rotation and increase the yield of crops.
According to the document, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, the relevant departmental authorities and province governors have been instructed to rotate crops in accordance with the norms of agricultural engineering, widely implement best practices in agricultural production and conduct science-based crop rotation to increase crop yields.
President Serdar Berdimukhamedov emphasized the importance of further increasing the production of agricultural products in the country, including vegetables, fruits and melons, and gave relevant instructions to the Vice-Premier.
The Head of Turkmenistan also signed a Resolution on planting trees in Turkmenistan in 2023. In accordance with the document, 3 million seedlings of deciduous, coniferous, fruit trees and grapes will be planted across the country this year.
The cabinet meeting discussed the further socio-economic development of the country and considered the draft documents aimed at development of the sectors of the national economy.
